Senior Software Engineer
General Job Purpose:
In this position, the Engineer will work under minimal supervision as part of the Carousel Engineering Team. He/She will be involved in problem analysis, bug fixing, refactoring, design reviews, code reviews and process improvement.
Responsibilities:
Using engineering processes and procedures, responsibilities include the timely execution and delivery of tasks in the areas of product maintenance, component testing, quality assurance, and product release.
Experience and Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience and a diploma/degree in a computer-related discipline or equivalent computer-related technical experience is required. In addition to product design and implementation, this experience should encompass at least one of the following areas: product test and release, customer services or process improvement.
Key Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years Java development experience including networking protocols and multi threading
- Experience of Swing, AWT and XML
- Experience of JDBC
- Ability to work with and integrate Open Source projects
- Experience of debuggers
- Communication and presentation skills
Other relevant skills
- Knowledge of C/C++, J2EE, CVS, ANT, make systems and scripting are desirable
- Experience on both UNIX/Linux and Windows platforms
- Experience of J2EE, Web Services and SOA
- Familiarity with PHP
- Experience of developing plugins for Netbeans or Eclipse
